What a whirlwind ten days it has been! I spent five days at Winter CHA and then another five days at home with Hels, and we never stopped! Hels headed back across the pond last night and I'm just beginning to settle back into normal life, with the benefit of a nasty sore throat and wicked cough. The price for such an amazing time.
I'll keep this to mostly photos with some captions...
On my flight to California I saw this view - the pilot didn't say anything but I think it had to be the Grand Canyon. Who knows, but it was cool!
Ahhhh... blue skies and palm trees... California is truly so beautiful!
Hels and I ready to head over to the show on Day 1 - the classic elevator mirror shot.
But before we went to the show, we *had* to stop at Starbucks to meet up with the other girls. This is a shot of the aptly named "Airport Girls" (Linda Ledbetter, Yvonne Blair, Hels Sheridan, Candy Colwell, and Cheryl Grigsby). They all attended Ranger U together in May 2011, and with all the flight delays they experienced, they spent up to 12 hours waiting for everyone to arrive before heading to Ranger. Such dedication and friendship! This was their first reunion.
And, yes! We've arrived at the show!
Here's Candy, Hels and me, sitting outside waiting to go in the first morning.
Of course, one of our first stops had to be the Ranger booth to see the *gorgeous* Dyan Reaveley.
Yes! New Dylusions ink spray colors... funky fuschia (2nd from left) is my favorite, but the white spray?!?! Like ghosting in a bottle! Can't wait to get them all and start playing!
And here's the 6 new rubber stamp sets from Dylusions. All gorgeous, wonderful "sassy" sayings, a complete alphabet set, and lots of new characters to mix and match together.
Hels and I had our caricatures done at the clear stamp booth - so funny! I'll try to take a close up shot so you can see them better, but it's hysterical.
Hee! Got to do some make and takes with Julie Fei-Fan Balzer at both Crafter's Workshop and Sakura booths. I love Julie's art, her independent style, and her sassy attitude. Was a real treat to meet her.
One of my favorite releases of the show (other than the Dylusions and Ranger releases) were the new lines called Sunrise Sunset and Mechanicals by Anna Dabrowska (a.k.a. "Finnabair") for Prima. This is a sample by Anna in the Prima booth - the picture doesn't nearly do it justice. It is HUGE - like 24" x 36" HUGE and so many layers and embellishments - truly luscious.
Here's some close ups.
On the last day of the show, we went on a tour of Hollywood! We got to see a lot of sights. Here's me, Hels, Candy and Anita Houston standing on the steps of the Dolby Theatre (formerly the Kodak theatre) where the academy awards are held.
The famous Grauman's Chinese Theatre, home of the Hollywood Walk of Fame.
And a perfectly framed shot of the "Hollywood" sign.
And then a driving tour of some star homes. Recognize this one? It's the Spelling Mansion (Aaron Spelling the creator of Beverly Hills, 90210) we also got to see the Playboy Mansion, and the homes of Janet Jackson, Gene Simmons of KISS (formerly the home of Tom Hanks and Rita Wilson), the home Michael Jackson was renting when he died (creepy) and several others. Pretty cool stuff.
After waiting patiently through L.A. traffic, we arrived at Santa Monica Pier. It was windy and pretty cold, but it was still beautiful!
Hels found some mustache sunglasses so we had to take a pic for Kaz Hall... didn't we???
And the next day we headed home. My hubby Jack drew this pic and held it out the sunroof window when he came to pick us up from the airport.... it's Chester! Of Cheesy 'Chester' Cheeto fame! How hysterical!! We couldn't miss him!
We did manage to do some art-ing along the way, and I'll be sharing those projects later this week. Hope life is treating you well and you've managed to avoid the flu. I'm not sure if I have the full blown flu or just a really nasty cough/cold, but I don't recommend it...
Will be back later this week with more to share. Til then!
