Simon Says Stamp and Show - Things With Wings

Hi everyone,

Hope you've all been well the last few weeks - I've been busier than busy - sorry I haven't had much to blog about, but I'm back again this week with another DT project for Simon Says Stamp and Show.  This week's challenge is "Things With Wings".  As soon as I heard that I immediately thought of butterflies.

I started with a 5x5 unfinished wood shadow box, painted it with traditional tan, espresso and pitch black paint from Ranger, and then gave it a thin coat of rock candy crackle paint.

The center of the frame is a cut off from a jumbo manila tag, colored with distress stains (aged mahogany, crushed olive and picket fence), stamped with Tim Holtz and Dylusions stamps, spritzed with heirloom gold perfect pearl mist, and finally, added a Blue Moon butterfly charm.

The butterflies on each side were die cut with the mini butterfly die out of Clearly For Art modeling film by Studio 490, colored with alcohol ink (red pepper, butterscotch, sunset orange and gold mixative), with idea-ology pins and game spinners for their bodies.

Then I added an altered ornate plate with a Tim Holtz sentiment coated with glossy accents, and some idea-ology buttons and grunge block letters, also coated with glossy accents.

I hope you enjoyed this week's project and have a chance to join in the fun!  As always, if you join in and link up your project, you'll have a chance at winning a $50 shopping spree from Simon Says Stamp!

Did I mention that HELS is coming to visit again!? (might have mentioned it once or twice...LOL) - She will be here is just THREE short days! And then we're off to spend the whole weekend taking classes with THE Wendy Vecchi at The Queens Ink - life is very, very GOOD! Have a great week!
